Our Mission

The Alexander Berdus Foundation for Education of Displaced Children (AB-FEDC) aims to provide funds and resources to facilitate better access to quality undergraduate or professional education for displaced children in need who were forced out of their homes in the United States or foreign countries (due to unsafe home environments, violence, human right violations, persecution, military conflicts, war, natural disasters, or other local crises) and have legally resettled in the United States.

Guiding Principles

01.

Right to Education

Every child has the right to affordable, safe, and quality education, as recognized by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

02.

Equity and Inclusion

Priority is given to those displaced children facing multiple layers of vulnerability to support equal access to education.

03.

Child-Centered Approach

Decisions will be guided by the best interests of the child, ensuring dignity, safety, and participation.

04.

Accountability and Transparency

All processes must be conducted with the highest degree of integrity, documented, verifiable, and open to independent review.

05.

Partnership and Collaboration

The program will work with humanitarian organizations, educational institutions, and community groups to maximize reach and impact.

06.

Diversity and Respect:

We value and respect all cultures and beliefs, understanding and recognizing that some people may have unique historical experiences or challenges.
